With fewer crowds, performing tawaf around the Kaaba and sa'i is calmer and more comfortable for families, children and elderly pilgrims, and your budget stretches further on hotels close to Masjid al-Haram.

October also includes the UK autumn half-term, making it a convenient week for parents to perform Umrah with their children without missing school. October's mild weather is ideal for ziyarah. In Makkah you can visit Masjid al-Haram and the Kaaba, Jabal al-Nour (the Cave of Hira), Jabal Thawr, Mount Arafat and Jannat al-Mualla. In Madinah, visits include the Prophet's Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi), Jannat al-Baqi, the Quba Mosque, Masjid al-Qiblatain and Mount Uhud.
